Class website: zeldarj@educatorpages.com
My name is Ms. Johnson and I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the 2017-2018 school year. I teach Math 8 and Algebra 1. The purpose of this letter is to provide a brief overview of what to expect in OUR Math Class/Lab. Due to the rigor of these courses, it is very important that you come to class on time, with the required supplies, and the determination to work on tasks to completion. I strongly believe in Cooperative, Collaborative Learning, which will be the foundation of Our Learning Environment. As a Learning Community, we will work together as we explore and grow mathematically.
ASSIGNMENTS:
You will have a variety of assignments, which are to be turned in on or before each due date. There is not a penalty for late assignments. However, assignments must be turned in, during the marking period it was assigned. When absent it is your responsibility, to ask for and make up all missing assignments within two days upon returning to school.
HOMEWORK:
There will not be formal homework assignments given in either course. However, you will be required to finish incomplete assignments at home. Incomplete assignments that are completed at home may be due to various reasons; we ran out of time in class, or you needed more help with the task, and on rare occasions when you may fail to work to your full potential or mismanage your time.
PROJECTS, PRESENTATIONS, AND ACTIVITES:
You will have various opportunities to explore and engage in Mathematics via STEM Activities, Project Based Learning Assignments, Math Labs, and Art activities. NOTE: You will be provided with the materials needed for your projects, presentations, and activities.
GRADES:
The lowest grade given for any assignment is 50. You will have the option of making up any teacher assigned exam, project or activity grade you are not pleased with it. However, it is your responsibility to make that request and complete the requirements for a grade change.
